Weekend 411

This weekend we were pretty busy. Saturday night the hubby and I had date night! We started off with dinner at this Vietnamese restaurant called Hu Dats (if you are a Dallas Cowboys fan this place is owned by Dat Nguyen). I had a dish called the Bun Ga shrimp, which is a healthy vermicelli salad noodle bowl served with shredded lettuce and cucumber topped with vermicelli rice noodles, cilantro, crushed peanuts and carrots, and its absolutely delicious. oh and I forgot we had spring rolls for appetizer, and these were awesome



after dinner we had time to kill before the movie started so we stopped by one of my favorite stores Academy. I have a bitter sweet relationship with Academy, I love all their workout clothes but they can be so dang expensive. This is my opinion about workout clothes...I've bought the cheaper brand of spandex/compression shorts and after a couple wears the thread was unraveling in the crotch area. The other brands such as Nike and Under Armor (my favorite) are much more expensive but I think they are worth every penny. They feel better and last longer. So this is what I ended up buying at Academy.



After Academy we went to the movies to watch Black Swan. The hubby didn't want to watch this but he picked the last two movies, True Grit and the Fighter which were both excellent movies by the way, so it was my turn to pick.



I liked the movie. It freaked me out several times but we both actually liked it. I think I liked it because when I was little I used to want to be a ballet dancer. My mom had me in ballet, jazz, and tap dance lessons but I after 6 I started growing the like Alice in wonder land when she ate the mushrooms. So I didn't really have a dancers body, and my dancing days were over. I have to say Natalie Portman did an amazing job dancing in that movie.

On Sunday I bought a book and I'm really excited to start reading it. I'm not a big reader but every now and then I'll get in reading mode.



I also bought this top for $12.50 at New York & Co. (they always have the best sales) I think with some tights and boots it will be a cute outfit.

The "300" workout

Saturday workouts for crossfit are a killer because they are longer. I have been raving to the hubby about crossfit and how he needs to come with me, but since I go during the week at 5:30 he wants no part of it. Well I convinced him to come today with me!!!! And this was the workout of the day right off the website



“300″

25 Pull-ups
50 Deadlifts
50 Push-ups
50 Box Jumps
50 Sit-ups
50 Clean and press
25 Pull-ups

for time!

We got to the gym and I introduced the hubby to the trainers. Molly who is one of the trainers told Dustin (the hubby) to do 25 reps of each instead of 50 since it was his first day. She then told me to tell him again just to do 25. I told Dustin to do half the workout and explained to him that at my first week of crosssfit I only did half of the workout too...Well Dustin didn't listen and did the whole workout needless to say he was hurting in the end. Poor baby is going to be so sore the next couple of days lol...

As for me I did the whole workout and finished in the time of 31:14. Here are some pictures of before our workout and after

7 pound loss!!!

On Jan. 10th I posted how I gained 7 pounds and I'm excited to say that I've lost those 7 pounds!!! I did it buy busting my butt in crossfit and eating healthy. This weekend was tough because the hubby cooked this awesome dish from scratch. He cooked this chicken with a crawfish and andouille cream sauce. I had a taste and it was delicious but I ended up eating 6 colossal shrimp that was bar-b-qued so it was pretty healthy and a salad. We had frineds over so the hubby's dinner did not go to waste. Here is the cream sauce, I just had a taste and it was so yummy but I had to say no because this baby is made with heavy cream and butter.

And here is the finished product which is yumminess but probably over 1000 calories so I had to stick to my guns and eat shrimp and salad which was very delish by the way. I don't have a picture cause I ate it so fast but it was very tasty.




So back to my weight loss...I've been going to crossfit 3 times a week and I even went last Saturday. I'm becoming more obsessed with it and I feel bad when I don't go. I'm not going to lie its really tough the other day we the hubby and I went to the movies and while he scarfed down nachos and candy I had a diet Dr. Pepper and beef jerky. Not my first choice but it was a healthy snack. What really helps me is that some of the crossfit workouts are so hard that I makes me want to eat healthy cause that piece of chocolate is not worth the 3k row or the 21 pullups I have to do...

Here are some pictures of me at 175 and before you say whoa 175...I'm 6'2, so I'm going to weigh a lot no mater what.

Crossfit Updates

I want to start off saying that it NEVER gets easy waking up at 5:00 am for a workout. I've been going 3 times a week and I still have a hard time waking up in the mornings, and if it wasn't for the $115 I pay a month and bikini season coming up I probably wouldn't go.

I've lost 3 pounds....yes only 3 pounds. I do a great job working out and eating healthy during the week, but its the weekends that kill me. Starting this weekend I'm going to do a better job about eating healthy. Its not worth all my hard work on the weekdays to screw it up with chicken wings and beer on Saturday.

I feel myself getting stronger. I hate lifting weights but I've noticed a difference in my arms and butt. Which makes me sooooo happy!!!

Here are the workouts I did within the last week

Tuesday
Front Squat 3-3-3 (the 3-3-3 means finding your max 3 reps at a time)
or
Thruster 3-3-3

10 Pullups
10 Pushups
4R4T ( this means 4 rounds for time, crossfit is all about getting the best time)

Thursday
AMRAP 20min (AMRAP= as many rounds as possible for 20 minutes)

400m Run
Max Pullups

this workout I ended up running a mile 1/2 and doing 27 pullups I SUCK at pullups

Friday
Squat Clean 5-3-1
Shoulder Press 5-3-1

max effort 2K row (rowing looks easy but its killer)

Today
AMRAP in 15min of: (as many rounds as possible in 15 minutes)

10 MB Cleans ( 10 medicine ball squat cleans)
3 Wall Climbs (basically you're on your hands and you use your legs to climb up a
wall and basically doing a handstand...so freaking hard)
10 Man-makers (this is so hard to explain but I can tell you this shit is hard)

Yes Crossfit is hard and a lot of times I feel discouraged because I can't lift as much weight as some as the other women, and my time is not nearly the best. But I love it...

This is whats keeping me motivated....I just got the new Victoria's Secret swimsuit catalog in the mail


and this is what I want to be able to wear and look halfway decent

I was so excited when I found out they made the Bombshell bra into swimwear!!! I have to have this bikini


This summer the hubby and I are going to Vegas and this cover up would be great to lounge around in poolside!!

Thoughtless Thursdays

This weekend the hubby and I are going to his family get-together at this beach house going towards El Campo. We are all responsible for brings stuff and I am in charge of bringing chips and dips. So I'm making 3 dips!!!

Dip 1 Queso
You can't go wrong with rotel queso


this dip is so easy...

Velveeta Cheese
can of rotel
and either sausage or if I'm lazy I just put half a can of wolf brand chili either way is good.

Dip 2 Spinach dip



and I actually put this dip in a bread bowl just like the picture and I make croutons with the remainder of the bread

1 tub of sour cream
1 box of frozen spinach
1 pack of ranch dip season packet

Dip 3 Three cheese artichoke dip

I've never made this dip but I found the recipe on Foodnetwork.com and its from Paula Dean and she can't do no wrong



Ingredients
1 (8 ounces) block cream cheese, softened
1 cup mayonnaise
1 (14 ounces) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
2 green onions, sliced thin
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
1 cup shredded mozzarella
Dash hot sauce
Dash Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese with a hand held electric mixer until smooth. Then beat in the mayonnaise until smooth. Add remaining ingredients and stir together until combined. Transfer the dip to a pie plate or shallow gratin dish. Bake in a preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the dip is bubbling. Serve hot with crackers, tortilla chips, crostini or veggies.

My challenge for this weekend is to eat in moderation and not over eat or over drink. Well lets just see how that goes....

$1000 Motivation


How's this for motivation, my gym is having a $1000 weight loss challenge!!! Today I payed $20 to join the weight loss challenge. The person who loses the most percentage of fat wins $500, and there is $500 to the winner of the most dedicated. The most dedicated category goes to the person who has the best diet journal. I know for a fact I wont win for the best journal ( I've never been able to keep a journal in my entire life) but I think the thought of winning cash will jump start my motivation for working out. The final weigh-in is May 5 so I have plenty of time to get in shape. I don't think I'll win cause I don't have that much weight to lose, but I'm a very competitive person and I will do just about anything to win.

7 Pounds



I wish I was talking about the movie 7 Pounds, (I actually have never seen by the way)but I'm not. 7 pounds is what I gained over the holidays. Since I'm a teacher I was off from work for 2 weeks and within those 2 weeks I ate like it was my last supper. I didn't workout at all which killed me once I eventually did go back to crossfit. So the result of eating whatever and not working out was 7 pounds....Which really freaking sucks cause my jeans fit really snug.



So now its time to get back to my regimen, back to healthy eating and working out. My goal is to be in tip top shape for spring, but its going to take a lot of hard work. My downfall is the weekends, I do so well during the week and the weekends I just letting loose and eat whatever and don't workout. Well letting loose on the weekends is about to stop, I need to workout on Saturdays and possible Sundays. I believe it takes working out 5 days a week to lose weight and 3 days a week to maintain, and I definitely don't want to maintain my weight. This weekend is going to be hard because we are going to my husbands family get-together, and there are 2 things that the family likes to do and its drink and eat. I need to realize eating a second helping is not worth it, drinking lots of beer, is not worth it (well maybe sometimes lol).

Well here I go again back to working out and eating healthy......
